My cooperating teacher ends her lab session close to the same way each time. She ends the class about five min. early to give the students time to clean up their lab benches. After all the students are done cleaning she either brings them back into the classroom if they were working in the lab or she has them sit in their seats. When all of this is done and there is still time she reiterates what was done/ the purpose on the lab activity and also what they will be doing in the class the next day. This ties everything together and also prepares the students for the next days’ class.
During my class periods I hope that I can end my day classes the same way. By bring the class back together at the end of an activity it really lets you stress what you wanted the students to get out of the activity and also lets you hear from the students what they were having trouble with. With this you can make notes on the activity so if you use it again; you can modify and/or improve the activity.
